I enjoyed the squally weather from Storm Bella last night on my walk around the streets of Glasgow with the rain drenching me and the wind whipping me up. I felt alive in the elements with all cobwebs blown away. I came back and improvised this piece and while I know it doesn’t sound particularly squally, I think there’s a lot of breeziness going on. As a child I loved watching leaves get caught up in swirling wind patterns. They would dance in the breeze and I was fascinated. This piece definitely has some swirliness going on as the volume and tempo ebbs and flows. I’ve been experimenting with B Dorian mode and that’s where this piece starts but it seems to end up in F# minor. They’re so similar but also they’re not ha! The joys of understanding music theory hey? Enjoy.
